On Thursday 29th November the S2 Go4SET
team took to the hills to learn more about renewable energy to aid
their research for this year's challenge. Mackies of Scotland have
recently completed their construction of three 45-metre wind
turbines.
The
two new turbines (Ice and Cream) have joined the existing (Mackies)
wind turbine and make green electricity to produce every tub of
award winning ice-cream - with enough surplus for about 1000 homes.
The pupils had the opportunity to get up close to the
turbines and question Mackies on the function and sustainability of
their new development. Despite some frozen faces and cold fingers
the team were still able to devour the free samples of next years
products.
