Pupils raise £2650 for the Cyrenians
Pupils from
Hazlehead's S4 to S6 have raised £2650 by sleeping - well not
quite but they did raise the money! Pupils had taken part in the
annual Cyrenians Sleepout and today handed over a cheque to the
Cyrenian's School Worker, Yvonne Forrest. The cheque was handed over
during the S4 Assembly and Head Teacher Ms Murison congratulated the
pupils on their efforts and the efforts they had gone to to help
others. If any pupils have still to return sponsor money or forms they
should do so as soon as possible.
Pictured below are Ms
Murison with Yvonne Forrest of the Cyrenians. Handing over the cheque
are Ross, Ailsa, Carrie and Peter, four S4 pupils who raised almost
£400 between them.

Hazlehead Pupils Sleepout
2010

Hazlehead Academy
were again represented at the 2010
Cyrenians Sleepout with one of the largest contingents of pupils.
Over 90 pupils and staff spent spent almost 12 hours in a rather
cold and draughty hall raising money for the Cyrenians charity.
Whilst the staff present did attempt to get some sleep, most of the
pupils sat up through the night. Many thanks to the parents who
delivered and collected their children at the event, especially for
getting up at 6.30 in the morning to collect them!

Hazlehead Pupils Sleepout
2009
Hazlehead Academy sent a strong contingent to the
2009 Sleepout - the first event being postponed because of snow.
Over 60 pupils and staff spent the night in the AECC to raise funds
for the Cyrenians who help homeless young people. Unfortunately the
rearranged event clashed with the school Ceilidh but we were still
delighted with the excellent turnout. Some staff attended both
functions, then crawled home to their beds for some well earned rest!

Hazlehead Pupils
raise most for Cyrenians
Charity 2008
Hazlehead Academy has been awarded a trophy by the
Aberdeen Cyrenians for the most money raised by a school at the 2008
'Sleepout' which took place in January. 117 pupils and staff took
part and raised a total of £3300. Hazlehead is the first Aberdeen
school to win the award.

Hazlehead Pupils Sleepout
for Charity
Once again, Hazlehead took part in the
annual Sleepout to raise funds for the Cyrenians organisation. One
hundred and twelve
S3,
S4, S5 and S6 pupils took part along with 600 others from schools,
youth organisations and individuals. The behaviour of the pupils, as
expected, was exemplary and the six staff were able to
relax and crawl into their sleeping bags to try and get some sleep. We
suspect that the amount of sleep obtained by pupils was minimal - most
of the night was passed chatting, playing games and eating pizza!

This has been Hazlehead's largest representation ever at the event. The photographs below indicate something of the experience. A number
of pupils were back for their second or even third time and we hope to see them back
again next year.
