Hazlehead Pupils do some
Networking
Mrs Rutherford's Higher Computing class got a chance to build their
own PCs recently thanks to staff from RGU. Students spent the
afternoon putting the various parts together and then succeeded in
networking them.
The practical work was intended to enhance the Computer Systems Unit
studied at Higher Computing. Students were able to see the
motherboard and add in memory and a graphics card. They also had to
insert the hard disk the right way up! Later in the session the
students set up a wired network using a hub and shared music files.
Last of all they set up a wireless network and tested it out by
playing a game together across the network.
An enjoyable time was had by all with RGU providing all the
equipment, certificates and prizes (the session was quite
competitive!).
