S2 PUPILS
SUCCESS IN GO4SET
On Friday 29th February six S2 pupils went
to the beach ballroom to compete in this years Go4SET challenge.
They have spent the last three months researching renewable energy
and investigating how their innovative ideas could save the school
money and make it a more eco-friendly school. They worked closely
with mentors from both AMEC and Prospect, drawing on industry
experience and advice.

On the day, the team had to prepare a presentation area to display
their ideas and set up their display at the beach ballroom along
with all the other competing schools. They had the opportunity to
see what other groups had been working on and speak to the judges
about their project before indulging in the biggest feast of food
known to man! After lunch the judges gathered to make their final
decisions.
Staff from our partner company Amec attended the competition
and Lavinia Carr made the following comments about the Hazlehead
team. "I
attended the GO4SET event at the Beach Ballroom last Friday. I was
extremely impressed with the pupils’ representing Hazlehead Academy.
They were wonderful ambassadors for the school and the AMEC
partnership - immaculately presented, articulate, energetic, eager,
engaging and fun - a joy to be around. I know that Steve King (AMEC)
has invested considerable time working with the pupils on the energy
project and was full of praise and admiration for all the hard work
undertaken by the pupils to make the exercise such a success!"
Hazlehead Academy won the prize for best display, they won £250 for
the school and each received a certificate. The team would like to
congratulate the team from Bankhead Academy who won the first prize
and Alford Academy who secured the pupils choice award. |
