PTA
Public Speaking Competition
Every year, the PTA holds a public
speaking competition with the help and encouragement of the English
department. Entrants had a range of topics to speak upon which
included 'The World Wide Web - Good or Evil', 'Why Should we Reduce,
Re-use and Recycle?', 'School Uniform - is it Necessary?', 'If I
Ruled the World' and 'My Favourite Place'.
As in most years, the
standard of entry was exceptionally high and this year the trophy was
won by Diana Silby of S2. Second Place went to Eilidh MacLennan of S2 and in third
place was Rebecca Munro of S1.
Well done to all the competitors who kept the judges entertained with
their magnificent talks! Our thanks go to Mrs Miller of the English department who
organised the competition and the library for hosting it. Special
thanks to the judging panel of Mr Duncan MacArthur, Aberdeen City
Council Learning Strategist and Mrs Margaret Hill of the Hazlehead
Learning Resource Centre.
